Teak Custom Bookcases
Teak is one of the less-used woods for bookcases.
Teak bookcases are available in the market in many varieties. However, teak is a tropical, "rain forest" wood,
so some
species of teak are endangered and are generally not used today for bookcases, or for any other furniture. However, some modern teak is grown on tree farms, and reclaimed teak is
also available. The teak that Molton Bookcases uses never comes from virgin rain
forests; you can rest assured of our commitment to
environmental freedom. Teak starts as a dark wood, and it also ages, like cherry. It has extremely
good water resistance, if you have a specialized or high humidity application.
Teak is a hardwood; it is available from Malaysia,
Honduras and several other tropical countries, although unlike cherry bookcases
and oak bookcases, it is not grown in the United States.
