Freestanding Custom BookcasesWe create custom freestanding bookcases with top quality construction and finishing. Our bookcases are not the particle-board or MDF, nailed or stapled bookcases you find at home centers or discount stores, but top-quality furniture that will last a lifetime. We guarantee our work and your satisfaction. Construction Our woodwork is held together by screws, not staples or nails. Even the backs are screwed onto the shelf. Each shelf fits into grooves cut in the sides of the case. And each side, shelf, and edge is selected for quality and appearance. We use no particle board or MDF (medium density fiberboard), only actual wood plywood. Please see our construction page for more information. To enhance safety, all freestanding bookcases should always be fixed firmly to the studs in a wall or another immovable object. Materials and Finishes Birch, cherry, oak, maple, mahogany and walnut pieces are made from fine sanded, 3/4" thick all wood veneer plywood, trimmed with solid wood. Face frames are solid hardwoods, hand-glued and clamped. Pine bookcases are solid Ponderosa pine. All our work is available finished or unfinished.
