Cherry Bookcases
Cherry is one of the most popular woods for bookcases.
Cherry is a warm, reddish wood. It is also perhaps the prototypical wood used
for bookcases, although some would argue that in the larger
scheme of American history, oak bookcases have that honor.
It's also important to keep in mind that cherry ages. It starts out a fairly
bright pink, and gradually ages, faster in the presence of sunlight, to the
dark red color that people normally associate with cherry bookshelves. That
process does
not happen overnight. If you're wiling to wait, though,
Molton Bookcases is proud to offer cherry
built-in bookcases and cherry
freestanding bookcases.
Cherry is a hardwood, but it is relatively soft and therefore
it is subject to nicks and scratches in a way that some other furniture is
not.
