Steel Bookcases
One of the great things about custom bookcases is that
they can be made of many different materials. While solid
wood bookcases have been the primary standard for many years, and
steel has also been used where money was not a problem,
such as in the 19th century British Library, it is in the 20th century that
steel shelving became a cost effective method of making bookshelves. Steel
has a fair number of advantages, among them that it can effectively be molded
or cast, or forged, and made extremely strong. Molton
Bookcases, however, focuses on providing the very best
wood and solid wood bookcases, rather than steel or steel-type bookshelves.
Steel can be dangerous for bookcases, as well; it is extremely
heavy, obviously, and therefore it is subject to creating injuries in a way
that some other materials are not.
