Shaker Bookcases
A very popular modern style of bookcases is actually a
style made by people who sought escape from modernity: Shaker bookcases. The
Shakers sought a return to a simpler, more authentically
American form of life. Part of that seeking entailed a
simplicity of furniture design that has lasted for well over a hundred years
of Shaker book case creation. Simple, angular lines, omitting the curves and
ornaments of Arts & Crafts booksheves or Craftsman book shelves, characterize
the Shaker
style. While Molton Bookcases
cannot claim to use only Shaker hand tools, many of our bookcases look similar
to Shaker bookcases.
